Aw, Winnipeg. I good memories of driving around it 3 times of family road trip way back. Then we learned the highway circles the city.

I marched drum corps when I was younger and we had many stories about a fictional corps from Canada called the “Winnipeg Lugnuts” - I hadn’t thought about that in years.

You did drum corps? I thought about ditching my marching band and going to a DCI outfit. We had a good one nearby. Never worked up to such a big commitment . Great shows to go to though.

Five years. 4 percussion and a year on mellophone in the middle. Thankfully it was cheaper back then.

Wow that’s some commitment. I played trombone through high school and college and did the HS drum major thing.

Ah, it has a lot to do with music being my only real hobby at the time and then I went to a college without a music program. I’ve taught percussion on the side for 15+ years so I guess it paid off!

I did a very similar thing, and ended up doing marching band and wind ensemble in college, too. It helped that marching band counted for PE credit, too.
Teaching music is fun, isn’t it? I never made any money off it though.

College didn’t have marching band either...but I took a trampoline class for PE!
I’ve taught at the same school for almost ten years and this will be my first year off in ages. I love it but I need a reset.
